Alicante is a coastal town in the southern part of the Valencia Region on the east coast of Spain and is one of the best loved towns along the Costa Blanca. This popular historic Mediterranean port is known for its miles of sandy beaches and the wonderful Hotels Alicante offer provide accommodation of all types for the many tourists that descend in the summer months. With its wonderful boulevard lined with palm trees, excellent mild climate and long alleys along the harbor for nice relaxing walks, Alicante is indeed a first-class holiday destination.

The Costa Blanca is situated between the Costa Almeria to the north and the Costa Dorada to the south. Easily accessible by air, train of bus, Alicante provides the perfect base to explore all the coastal towns in the region. The two official languages are Spanish and Valencian but English and German are widely understood.

Inhabited for over 7000 years, first by hunter-gathers, then the Greeks and Phoenicians who established small trading ports followed by the Romans and Moors, it was the Moors who, in the 11th century, named the town Alicante which means 'city of lights'. Alicante's importance as a trading station grew and declined again due to war and unrest. It faced great hardship and poverty in the 18th and 19 centuries and has really only blossomed since the late 1950's with the onset of tourism in the area. Today the port has been re-established and is very busy with tourist ships which bring hundreds of visitors to the city each year.

Enjoying a Mediterranean climate, with mild temperatures throughout the year and little rain makes Alicante the perfect holiday resort all year round. The difference in temperatures between night and day and between summer and winter do not fluctuate very much. The rainiest months are September and October and guests to the Hotels Alicante has on offer need to be prepared for torrential rain.

With the economy based on tourism, Alicante is one of the fastest growing cities in Spain. Its exceptional location between mountains and sea and a population that loves its city makes Alicante a delightful vacation destination. The sea and port are a part of everyday life with magnificent beaches as far as the eye can see. La Playa de San Juan beach is seven kilometers of golden sand with a road running the length of it so guests to Hotels Alicante can stop anywhere and enjoy the sun and cool refreshing waters of the Mediterranean. La Albufereta is a smaller intimate beach while the El Postiguet beach is located in the city itself. Nudist beaches, rocky shorelines and perfect scuba diving areas are all to be found in and around Alicante.

Many hotels in Alicante are situated alongside the beach, next to the new marina and the Paseo de las Palmeras promenade or in the city center. Others are set against the mountains with exotic gardens, lakes and waterfalls. Architecture varies from ultra modern hotels to those of great architectural value such as the Hospe Amerigo Hotel which was a former Dominican convent situated in the center of the Old City. A beautiful building carefully converted into a hotel with all the modern amenities and facilities required by today's discerning tourist but the charm and atmosphere of earlier times. From bed and breakfast accommodation and plenty of two and three-star hotels to luxurious four and five star Hotels Alicante, all visitors will find something to suit their budget and requirements.

Guest rooms are decorated in traditional Mediterranean colors and styles with white wall and wooden furniture and floors. While amenities and facilities vary between hotels and not available in all room types, guests at the luxury Hotels Alicante offer can expect to find comfortable king-size beds with the finest Egyptian cotton linen, warm feather duvets and soft pillows, air conditioning and heating, large windows to let in the natural light, LCD TV with satellite channels, DVD, internet access and a safe.

Exotic and spacious bathrooms with double washbasin tops, separate baths and shower, luxury toiletries, robes and slippers await guests to luxury properties. They provide the perfect space for guests to pamper themselves before heading out to the lively night spots along the shoreline.

Eating is a very important pastime to Spanish people and great pride is taken in its preparation and presentation. Guests to these properties are in for a real treat with the many fabulous restaurants they provide. Breakfasts are generally light meals with bread and churros while delicious main meals are served at lunchtime. The specialty of many Alicante hotels, as with many sidewalk bars, bistros and pubs, is rice and fish which are the bedrock of regional cuisine. Everyone knows the famous Spanish paella and nowhere is it better prepared than here. Lunch is followed by a siesta and a light meal in the evening. Tapas of salted seafood before a meal and fresh seasonal fruits and ice cream after a meal are all part of Spanish customs.

For the shopping aficionados guests to Hotels Alicante will have no problem finding local handicrafts and ceramics, leather bags and baskets, rugs and designer clothes and footwear. Generalized goods are available from the department stores in the city center.
